Consumer Reports study: “Are you paying too much for your groceries?”

A seasonal, healthy meal plan begins with shopping right. Well, Consumer Reports May 2012 cover story has the results of a 24,000 member survey of popular supermarkets and their ratings. It’s a great read for us frugal-folk and included several great tips and some trivia. For instance, did you know shoppers spend $2 less when shopping the store clockwise vs. counter-clockwise? Check out page 21 in the magazine.

The stores rated include Trader Joes, Wegman’s, Whole Foods Market, Costco, Winco and Wal-Mart. Who came in first? Check out May’s issue at your local magazine rack to find out and make the most of your meal plan dollar.

  1. The food budget is the best place to save money. I actually think eating healthy can be done cheaply if you are able to cook and plan meals in advance.
